The classic technique of elemental analysis with a Kaliapparat, invented by Justus von Liebig (1803–1873) at the University of Giessen, Germany, represents a significant milestone in science providing rapid and remarkably accurate elemental analysis of organic compounds (Liebig 1831; Usselman et al. 2005). Elementar is the leader in CHNOS elemental analysis (organic and inorganic), TOC analysis, and N/protein analysis via the Dumas combustion method. As we celebrate #nationalchemistryweek, we look back on our company’s roots which date back more than 110 years.
Fun Fact: The American Chemical Society (ACS) features a kaliapparat in its logo!
